D-5 before departure

It's official: we're leaving in 5 days. The famous question: "What remains for us to do before departure?" can't find any more answers, a sign that we have reached the end of our long To Do List of preparation for departure. Bus tickets to Milan and the first two nights in a Youth Hostel are reserved. Our plants have found refuge with our friends (thank you Alex & JP!) And the last essential purchases have been made. So close to the start, we feel over-excited. We know this journey will change the way we see life, the world and others. And we are also sure that this experience will allow us to learn more about ourselves, to test our coping skills and to open up our minds even more. We also feel a little stressed. The health context will force us to have an even more rigorous organization. And the fear of not being able to see certain regions of the world is present. And then, we had to say goodbye to our loved ones. A few days ago, we were crisscrossing France to see our families and friends one last time. Leaving for a year also means accepting not to be physically present for the major stages in the lives of the people we love (I am thinking particularly of my sister, Aurélie, who will give birth to twins during my absence.) And so, 5 days from a round-the-world trip, what do we have left to think about? At the moment, we are mainly thinking about how to organize our bags in order to optimize the maximum possible space. But we especially take advantage of the last moments in our apartment, the calm, the pleasure of just being there, at home, before saying goodbye to our little comfort… for a year.
